The Southside Community Center of Elmira NY provides year-round out of school-time childcare and programming including structured recreation, education, enrichment for school age youth Monday – Friday including a nutritious snack and a warm dinner, completely FREE of charge.
Our Mission
The mission of the Southside Community Center is to foster the development of self-esteem and positive values in its young people by maintaining a wholesome relationship between staff and youth, and offering relevant youth development and delinquency prevention programming.

Our Programs
The Southside Community Center offers many programs to the kids who attend. This includes daily structured recreation, education, and enrichment activities. These programs teach the children valuable skills, sometimes without them even knowing it!
Staff-Led
The Southside Community Center has a gymnasium and access to the Parley Coburn playground, a Computer Lab, a Maker Space, as well as a main room. We always have at least one staff member with the kids in each category and all clubs throughout our program time.
Community Partnerships
We partner with many outside organizations including the Chemung County Youth Bureau, United Way of the Southern Tier, Tanglewood, Food Bank of the Southern Tier, and many other organizations for activities at the center as well as field trips.

(SCC) has proudly been providing out of school time childcare, educational, enriching programming for 45-years. SCC provides a safe and empowering environment for school age children completely 100% FREE to children and families. SCC operates Monday - Friday 2 pm - 6 pm. Children receive a healthy nutritious snack upon arrival and each night at 5pm we serve a hot homestyle dinner. Looking back over 2021 SCC had its challenges as did many with COVID-19, however through the struggles, SCC proudly stayed strong to help the children and families as they strive to be their best selves. SCC proudly engaged with 2,810 youth, we served 1,727 healthy nutritious snacks, and 1,040 home style dinners. Our youth were able to experience arts and culture through educational field trips and in-house enrichment programming. SCC staff are dedicated in empower children and families to grow and becomes their best selves. Your generous donation will help support SCC programming as we help children and families strive to be their best selves. Examples of areas of support are: • $10.00 Donation can help to provide healthy nutritious snacks. • $25.00 Donation will help to provide craft/educational/enrichment supplies. • $50.00 Donation will help to provide sport and recreation equipment. • $100.00 Donation would sponsor a youth for a month. • $500.00 Donation would fund two fieldtrips/transportation for our youth. Register Your Child
Register your child to attend the Center, open from 2pm - 6pm on school days and all school breaks.
